Man Utd were keen on signing Renato Sanches and Ryan Giggs aimed a dig at Ed Woodward's failure to complete the transfer.
Former Manchester United assistant Ryan Giggs believes the club might have missed out on a gem in Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches.
The 18-year-old started his first Euro 2016 match in Portugal's quarter-final win over Poland, scoring their equaliser in regulation time and emphatically converting his penalty in the shootout.
Sanches joined Bayern in early May for £35million, despite United extensively monitoring his progress at Benfica, and Giggs watched the teenager plenty of times in Portugal.
Asked if Sanches was worth the fee during his punditry debut on ITV, Giggs replied: "100 per cent worth it.
"I saw a lot of his games last season. Six, nine months ago, he was on fire. Then his form dipped. But you’d expect that. He’s a kid with a lot of talent."
