17-Year-Old Senior Stripped of Collar and Toys Before Being Dumped at Kill Shelter

For Clyde, words can not express how he must feel after his family wanted to do away with him for good. After 17 long years of companionship, and undying loyalty, the senior pup was dumped at the high kill, East Valley Shelter in California. After his heartless owner went through the typical intake protocol, in which he was asked questions like why he was surrendering Clyde, he simply responded: “he was getting up there in age.”  Furthermore, in a tasteless display of inhumanity, Clyde, who by this time was cowering in fear from all the noise and chaos around him, was mercilessly stripped of his collar and his toy, right before his owner briskly walked away accompanied by other family members. Sad indeed.

Petharbor listing for Clyde reads,

“My name is Clyde and I am a neutered male, black and tricolor Australian Shepherd mix. The shelter thinks I am about 17 years old. I weigh approximately 63 pounds. I have been at the shelter since Jan 29, 2017.”

Fidonation, a shelter is no place for a senior dog like Clyde to spend the rest of his golden years. At his age, he should be playing with toys and treats, instead of crying into a cold concrete slab, that now doubles as his pillow.

If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever home he rightfully deserves, please contact the Los Angeles Animal Services – East Valley Shelter at (888) 452-7381 and reference the shelter ID #A1678905.  Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Clyde the forever family he rightfully deserves. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.
