Why Zlatan Ibrahimovic is Manchester United's new penalty taker

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho named three spot kick candidates but Zlatan is the man for the job

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been given the top job as United's penalty taker by his team-mates.
Even the club's captain Wayne Rooney and the Reds £89m record buy Paul Pogba have volunteered the 34-year-old Swedish striker as the number one spot kick man for United.
Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that he had chosen Ibrahimovic, Rooney and Pogba as his chosen trio for penalties this season.
But Ibrahimovic was promoted to first choice by Rooney and Pogba and he opened his spot kick account against Southampton in the 2-0 win at Old Trafford.

Mourinho was happy for his players to decide amongst themselves who had the 'feeling' for the job on the night.
“I designate three – Paul, Wayne and Zlatan and sometimes I like the players to have the feeling it is for me,” says Jose.
“ But Wayne and Paul, they told Zlatan, you are the first so when a penalty comes, you are the first option, if you don’t want to take then we are here.”
Ibrahimovic added, “We spoke like two weeks ago about it so there was no confusion. It was decided long before, it wasn’t on the pitch.”
Previous United boss Louis van Gaal adopted the penalty selection process whereby a player who missed a spot kick went to the back of the queue.
